Cayley Math Contest: Complete Overview and Preparation Guide

The Cayley Mathematics Contest, organized by the Centre for Education in Mathematics and Computing (CEMC) at the University of Waterloo, is a prestigious mathematics competition designed for Grade 10 students. The contest challenges students to apply mathematical concepts creatively while developing advanced problem-solving, analytical, and logical reasoning skills.

  • Grade 10 students and below
     

Contest Format

  • 25 questions

  • 60 minutes

  • Total Score: 150 points
     

Question Breakdown
Part A (Questions 1–10)

  • 5 marks each

Part B (Questions 11–20)

  • 6 marks each

Part C (Questions 21–25)

  • 8 marks each
     

Awards

  • Students receive an official score report from the University of Waterloo.

  • Certificate of Distinction Awarded to students who place in the top 25% of participants .

  • High-performing students may also receive school, regional, or national recognition.
